    About this piece

Meet the 12″ Olive Wood Spatula with Built-In Herb Stripper — a clever, hand-carved kitchen utensil shaped from sustainably sourced Mediterranean olive wood on the Greek island of Lesvos. The wide, smooth blade is built for flipping, sautéing, and scraping in non-stick pans, while the holes in the handle pull leaves cleanly off rosemary, thyme, basil, and other woody herbs in a single confident motion — no separate gadget required. Smooth-sanded and finished with our care balm, it's safe for non-stick cookware and gentle on every pan. Olive wood is naturally dense, water-resistant, and beautifully grained — every spatula carries its own swirl of honey, amber, and chocolate tones, so no two are alike. Each piece is crafted by a refugee artisan rebuilding their life through fair, steady work. Buying one helps fund a livelihood, not just a sale.

    The story

This spatula began as a branch of a wild olive tree on the island of Lesvos — the same island where, a few years ago, our makers arrived by boat with little more than the clothes on their backs. Today they spend their days in a small workshop, carving olive wood into utensils sold around the world. Every piece is signed by the hand that made it and traceable back to its maker by QR code. When you cook with this spatula, you're holding a small piece of that story — Greek olive groves, refugee craftsmanship, and the slow, deliberate work of rebuilding a life one piece at a time.

    Customer reviews

    • I gave up plastic cooking utensils long ago! This is a durable, beautifully crafted kitchen tool. I Do NOT put this in the dishwasher, as it will damage the product.

    • Spatula works great, has a sharp edge and looks beautiful. Having a herb stripper in the handle is a nice bonus!

    Frequently asked

Hand wash only, with mild soap and warm water — never soak or place in the dishwasher. Towel dry immediately and let it air dry fully before storing. Every 1–2 months (or whenever the wood looks dry), rub a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil or olive oil or care balm into the spatula with a soft cloth, let it absorb overnight, then wipe off any excess. With this simple ritual, your spatula will stay smooth, water-resistant, and beautiful for decades.

Each piece is carved one at a time from a single block of olive wood, so grain pattern, color and shape will vary slightly. That's part of what makes yours one of a kind.
