How It's Made
100% hand-crafted, one spoon at a time.
There is no factory with automated machines. No CNC machine. Every Lesvos Woodcraft utensil is shaped by artisans, using many different techniques and steps.

The five steps behind every piece
- 01
Rough cut
The initial spoon form is roughly cut out from a single piece of seasoned olive wood using a band saw.
- 02
Hand carved
Each spoon is carved and shaped entirely by hand using a variety of knives, and small power tools.
- 03
Sanded smooth
The piece is sanded through progressive grits until the grain feels silk-smooth and the curves sit comfortably in your hand.
- 04
Conditioned
Every utensil is coated in a food-safe linseed oil and beeswax conditioner that protects the wood and brings out the natural grain.
- 05
Packaged with care
Finished pieces are inspected, packaged, sent to the USA, and prepared for my nephew Ian to ship from our Indiana fulfillment center.

Why it matters that they're handmade
A machine-stamped spoon takes about two seconds to produce. One of ours takes roughly an hour or more from start to finish — and that hour is paid work for an artisan rebuilding their life on Lesvos.
Hand carving also follows the wood's natural grain instead of cutting through it, which is why our spoons are more ergonomically designed and feel noticeably stronger than mass-produced alternatives.
