    About this piece

Meet the 13″ Olive Wood Soup Ladle — a generously sized, hand-carved kitchen utensil shaped from sustainably sourced Mediterranean olive wood on the Greek island of Lesvos. The deep, rounded bowl is made for serving soups, stews, broths, and chili in confident scoops, while the long handle keeps your hand clear of steam from the pot. Smooth-sanded and finished with our care balm, it glides across non-stick cookware without scratching. Olive wood is naturally dense, water-resistant, and beautifully grained — every ladle carries its own swirl of honey, amber, and chocolate tones, so no two are alike. Each piece is carved by a refugee artisan rebuilding their life through fair, steady work. Buying one helps fund a livelihood, not just a sale.

    The story

This ladle began as a branch of a wild olive tree on the island of Lesvos — the same island where, a few years ago, our makers arrived by boat with little more than the clothes on their backs. Today they spend their days in a small workshop, carving olive wood into utensils sold around the world. Every piece is signed by the hand that made it and traceable back to its maker by QR code. When you cook with this ladle, you're holding a small piece of that story — Greek olive groves, refugee craftsmanship, and the slow, deliberate work of rebuilding a life one piece at a time.

    • This spoon is perfect for soups or sauces. I had a difficult time looking for a spoon that had a deeper bowl to use for sauces. The spoon is well made and a great size!

    • This soup laden is gorgeous! I absolutely love using it when making delicious hearty soups and stews throughout the fall & winter months and it is perfect for serving too. My Mom was over when I made my White Bean and Quinoa Soup and she loved the Ladle! That was all she kept talking about and I will be getting her a few as a gift this year. It is a hand carved masterpiece and the olive wood is everything! I also love that it does not stain.... and stays looking amazing! I now have these in a utensil crock on display in my kitchens the are just too pretty and amazingly functional too.

    Frequently asked

Hand wash only, with mild soap and warm water — never soak or place in the dishwasher. Towel dry immediately and let it air dry fully before storing. Every 1–2 months (or whenever the wood looks dry), rub a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil or olive oil or care balm into the ladle with a soft cloth, let it absorb overnight, then wipe off any excess. With this simple ritual, your ladle will stay smooth, water-resistant, and beautiful for decades.

Each piece is carved one at a time from a single block of olive wood, so grain pattern, color and shape will vary slightly. That's part of what makes yours one of a kind.
