    About this piece

Meet the Pakistani Custom 13″ Soup Ladle — a one-of-a-kind, hand-carved kitchen utensil shaped from sustainably sourced Mediterranean olive wood on the Greek island of Lesvos and hand-engraved with traditional Pakistani artwork. The deep, generous bowl is made for serving hearty soups, stews, and broths in confident scoops, while the long handle keeps your hand clear of steam from the pot. Smooth-sanded and finished with food-safe oil, it glides across non-stick cookware without scratching. The engraving features Pakistan's national flag symbols alongside intricately detailed Urdu lettering reading "Hard work will bring reward" — a phrase rooted in Pakistani values of perseverance, dedication, and resilience. Hand-engraved by Barnum, a Pakistani artisan, this is as much a tribute to his homeland as it is a kitchen tool. Please note: this is a unique piece and will not be reproduced — once it's gone, it's gone.

    The story

This ladle was carved on the Greek island of Lesvos and then hand-engraved by Barnum, a Pakistani artisan who arrived on the island as a refugee. Instead of waiting in a camp, he spends his days in a small workshop turning olive wood into utensils signed by his own hand. The Urdu engraving — "Hard work will bring reward" — is a phrase he carried with him from home. It's etched into the handle alongside Pakistan's national symbols, a quiet tribute to the homeland and the values that brought him this far. When you serve with this ladle, you're holding the meeting point of two cultures and one story of resilience — Pakistani heritage, Greek olive groves, and the deliberate work of rebuilding a life one piece at a time.

    Frequently asked

Hand wash only, with mild soap and warm water — never soak or place in the dishwasher. Towel dry immediately and let it air dry fully before storing. Every 1–2 months (or whenever the wood looks dry), rub a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil or olive oil or care balm into the ladle with a soft cloth, let it absorb overnight, then wipe off any excess. With this simple ritual, your ladle will stay smooth, water-resistant, and beautiful for decades.

Each piece is carved one at a time from a single block of olive wood, so grain pattern, color and shape will vary slightly. That's part of what makes yours one of a kind.
