    About this piece

Meet the 11″ Olive Wood Simple Spoon — a versatile, hand-carved kitchen utensil shaped from sustainably sourced Mediterranean olive wood on the Greek island of Lesvos. The classic, gently rounded bowl is sized for stirring sauces, tasting soups, folding batter, and serving everyday meals. The smooth handle balances comfortably in your hand for long stirs and quick tastes alike. Olive wood is naturally dense, water-resistant, and beautifully grained — every spoon carries its own swirl of honey, amber, and chocolate tones, so no two are alike. Each piece is carved by a refugee artisan rebuilding their life through fair, steady work. Buying one helps fund a livelihood, not just a sale.

    The story

This spoon began as a branch of a wild olive tree on the island of Lesvos — the same island where, a few years ago, our makers arrived by boat with little more than the clothes on their backs. Today in our workshop they are carving olive wood into utensils sold around the world. Every piece is signed by the hand that made it and traceable back to its maker by QR code. When you cook with this spoon, you're holding a small piece of that story — Greek olive groves, refugee craftsmanship, and the slow, deliberate work of rebuilding a life one piece at a time.

    • LOVE! These are gorgeous, and I enjoyed that each one is hand-engraved with the initials of the craftsman who made it (you can scan a QR code and match the initials to learn about the person who made your individual tool). These will bring me joy to cook with for many years to come!

    • I am in love with the 11" simple spoon from Lesvos Woodcraft. This is my daily go-to for anything and everything and it is just perfect. This is a total upgrade to the traditional wooden spoons you see others using and I love love love that its crafted from Olive Wood. This one is one I use to saute veggies, cook side dishes and to also serve them. It works perfectly at crumbling up ground beef and sausage too.... making the process a breeze and the fact that they are solid Olive Wood and non. metallic.... ensures my cookware is safe. These spoons are a must have culinary tool for each and every kitchen and the best part is that you're helping those in need. I love it!

    Frequently asked

Hand wash only, with mild soap and warm water — never soak or place in the dishwasher. Towel dry immediately and let it air dry fully before storing. Every 1–2 months (or whenever the wood looks dry), rub a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil or olive oil or care balm into the spoon with a soft cloth, let it absorb overnight, then wipe off any excess. With this simple ritual, your spoon will stay smooth, water-resistant, and beautiful for decades.

Each piece is carved one at a time from a single block of olive wood, so grain pattern, color and shape will vary slightly. That's part of what makes yours one of a kind.
